DCYA have engaged with Tusla when notice was issued of FAR training requirement for Jan 19 to comply with regulations. As you are aware a dual recognition system for QQI L5 occupational First Aid and FAR is running by the HSA until May 2018. This in turn means that practitioners who attend L5 occupational First Aid training could have valid certification up until May 2020. Tusla will recognise this on inspection. However, it is important to note that to meet the regulatory requirement until May 2020 early years’ service providers must have a staff member trained in first aid for children available to children at all times. From the 1st of June 2020 First Aid Response (FAR) will be the required training. Please see letter for full details.Click here.
